Soapmaking at the Homestead

$95.00
Limit 8 per order

Saturday, Sept 19th 12 - 2:30 PM

$95 per person · Advance registration required

Spend an afternoon at the Homestead learning the art of cold-process soapmaking. Exact address provided upon registration, but class is located on a private homestead near the Red Shed restaurant in Tallahassee. Meet the goats and donkey, make some new friends, enjoy light refreshments, and create your own full-size loaf of beautiful, artisanal soap to take home.

We'll begin with a little time to explore the Homestead, meet the animals, and learn more about Homestead Collective and the handmade products we create here. Then we'll settle in for a hands-on introduction to the traditional craft of cold-process soapmaking.

What's Included

  • Hands-on cold-process soapmaking instruction

  • All soapmaking ingredients, materials, and supplies

  • Your own full-size loaf of artisanal handmade soap — approximately 9 or 10 4-ounce bars once cut, with an approximate retail value of $80

  • A tour of the Homestead

  • A chance to meet our goats, donkey, chickens, and other homestead residents

  • Light refreshments

  • A behind-the-scenes look at Homestead Collective and the products we make

A Little Note About Your Soap

Your freshly made soap will remain at the Homestead after the workshop while it hardens in its mold. Soap will be available for pickup beginning 48 hours after the class. We'll contact you with pickup details once your loaf is ready.

Once you take your soap home, it will need several weeks to fully cure before it is ready to use. We'll explain the curing process and how to care for your soap before you leave.

What to Wear

Please wear long sleeves and closed-toe shoes. You'll be working hands-on with soapmaking ingredients, so comfortable clothing that provides good coverage is recommended.

The workshop takes place both indoors and outdoors on an active homestead, so please dress accordingly.

Good to Know

  • $95 per person

  • Advance registration is required, address for class provided upon registration.

  • Ages 16+; participants under 18 must attend with a parent or legal guardian.

  • Space is limited so that we can keep the workshop small, personal, and hands-on.

  • Please let us know about any allergies or sensitivities when completing your registration form.

  • The workshop includes time around livestock and walking on outdoor surfaces that may be uneven.

We can't wait to welcome you to the Homestead for an afternoon of soapmaking, animals, good company, and a little taste of homestead life!
